Why Salt Lake City?

🔁

Second time around

Salt Lake City hosted the 2002 Winter Games, and in July 2024 it was picked to host again in 2034, 32 years later. It'll be the fifth Winter Games held in the United States.

2002 venues, still in use

The plan reuses venues built for 2002, like Utah Olympic Park, the Utah Olympic Oval and Soldier Hollow, and no new permanent competition venues are planned.

Everything within an hour

Under the venue plan, every competition venue sits within an hour of the athletes' village on the University of Utah campus.

🎆

Same stadium, new show

Rice‑Eccles Stadium hosted about 55,000 people for the 2002 opening ceremony on Feb 8, 2002. It's slated to host the 2034 ceremonies too.
